Chakkuli ("the app", "we") is a crossword game and community platform
operated by Manohar Nagaiah. This policy explains what we collect, why, and
your rights. Questions: manohar.nv@gmail.com.
Information we collect
- Account information — when you sign in with Google or
Apple, we receive your name, email address, and a profile photo (if you
have one). Sign in with Apple may provide a private relay email.
- Profile content you provide — display name, photo, and
any bio, achievements, or career text you choose to add. A photo you take
or upload is stored as part of your profile.
- Content you create — crosswords, clues, community
names, and ratings you publish.
- Gameplay data — puzzles solved, scores, streaks, and
which communities you belong to, used to run the game.
- A user identifier (Firebase UID) that ties the above to
your account.
- Advertising & device identifiers — if and when we
show ads (see Advertising below), our ad provider Google AdMob
may access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising
ID on Android) and basic device/usage signals.
Advertising
Chakkuli is free, and we may show advertising to support it. When we do, we
use Google AdMob to display ads. To show ads that are more
relevant to you, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and
limited device and usage information. This can involve tracking for
advertising purposes.
- On iOS, before any tracking for personalized ads we
ask your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If
you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized
using your advertising identifier. You can change this any time in iOS
Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- On Android, you can reset or delete your Advertising
ID, or opt out of ad personalization, in your device settings.
- Ads are served by Google. Google's handling of this data is governed by
Google's own privacy policy:
policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
What we do NOT do
We do not sell your personal
information, and we do not share your account details,
profile, or the puzzles you create with advertisers. Other than the
advertising identifier described above, we do not track you across
unrelated apps and websites.
How your information is used
- To create and manage your account and profile.
- To run gameplay — show your puzzles, track streaks and leaderboards,
and let you join communities.
- To display content you publish to the communities you publish it to.
How it is stored and shared
Data is stored on Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) on
our behalf. It is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). We do
not share your personal information with other companies for their own use.
Content you choose to publish is visible to other users of the community you
publish to; puzzles published to a public language edition are visible to
anyone using the app.
Your rights and choices
- Edit your profile and the public details you show at
any time in the app (Profile tab).
- Delete your account and associated personal data at any
time — in the app (Profile → Delete account) or via our
account deletion page.
Children
Chakkuli is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect
personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the date
above. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
